About This:Poem
This:Poem has been live on the internet since 15 August 2008. The purpose of this website is to showcase poetry. Sometimes that poetry will be modern stuff, but more often than not it will be older stuff - poems that were written in previous centuries and deserve another day in the spotlight.
The website runs on events: sometimes the event will be a set of poems by a single poet; at other times the event will be a commemoration, or a seasonal activity. Events may involve consecutive daily posts, or can be a weekly happening. Generally, I'm aiming to have events that involve 5-6 poems, though some events may be longer - we'll see how things progress.
The choice of poems showcased at This:Poem is entirely mine. I make no apology for my wayward selection process, though I do hope that you'll find something to enjoy in many of the poems I unearth.
Submissions
One of the things I'm hoping to introduce is a sort of 'open mic' event, featuring either unpublished or recently published poems by various guests. However, I don't have the time to consider unsolicited submissions, so please don't send me your work. Maybe this policy will change in the future - we'll see how it goes.
Comments and feedback
I'm very happy to hear people's views and suggestions, both about the website itself (and the sidebar gadget) and about possible future events. You can find a link to my email address at the bottom of this page - feel free to send me your opinions!
